Suffering From Acne? Check Out These Great Tips!

At one point or another, nearly everyone has had to deal with getting rid of acne. Completely eliminating acne can often be elusive, but there are some basic tips that help ensure you’re doing the best that you can to get rid of it, and that you’re not doing things that help it form.

A great tip for covering up acne is by getting a tan. Acne and blemishes are much more noticeable on pale skin than on tan skin. Tanning outdoors for at least ten minutes each day can go a long way in covering up that acne that you’re ashamed of.

Although the sun IS great for our health, giving us the ability to create Vitamin D, it can be horribly damaging to our skin. The sun shoots out a variety of types of radiation which can literally damage the outer and inner layers of skin, giving an opening for acne to take over. Stay out of direct sunlight to keep pimples away.

What you put in your hair can also affect breakouts on your face so avoid items with heavy fragrances, oils or chemicals. Anything you put into your hair can end up dripping onto your face which will irritate the skin leading to breakouts. Use gentle fragrance free products on your hair and try to keep your hair pulled away from your face when styling.

If you’re in the throws of battle with acne, reach for a bottle of sunscreen. Ensure it has an SPF higher than 15 and that you use it at least thirty minutes before you go outside for maximum protection. Look for a product which has no oil and claims to be non-acnegenic.

To help keep your acne under control, wash twice a day with a sulfur based soap. The sulfur will help to dry up any excess oil and kill bacteria as well. Washing twice a day is essential, as you want to keep your skin clean for the entire day, and at night too.

When you are in the shower and washing your hair, tilt your head back when cleaning off your shampoo. Shampoo can sometimes stick to your face after your shower, irritating your skin and creating more acne. Alternatively, you can wash your hair in the sink to establish more control and eliminate the soap from hitting your face.

If you notice recurring breakouts or blemishes on one side of your face only, you may be exposing yourself to a dirty phone or pillowcase. Try wiping down your phone earpiece and mouthpiece with an antibacterial cleanser, and alternate ears. You may also change your pillowcase more frequently because dirt and oils pressed into the fabric may be the culprit.
